A threatening message was found at Marguerite Maze Middle School late Wednesday afternoon, but police and district staff determined it was not a credible threat, according to a press release from the Hollister School District.
The school district takes all threats seriously, the release explained. The incident will continue to be investigated by police, according to the statement.
This is the third time this school year that the campus has been the site of threatening messages, including a suspected bomb threat found on the wall of a student restroom in October and a prior threatening message in September.
In early October, the Hollister Police Department arrested a 12-year-old suspect and released the minor to a parent, following an investigation into the bomb threats at the school.
School and district staff, along with school resource officers from the police department, searched the school to make sure it was safe for students and employees, the most recent press release explained. The district will also implement “safety precautions” throughout the day, according to the statement.
