Dear Editor,
I was gratified to find that the supervisors were in tune with the general public in questioning the value of a casino in our county.
Supervisors Loe and Marcus had already made up their minds against the casino after research and investigation into the impacts. The other supervisors wanted to “hear from the other side.”
We are in the midst of a propaganda campaign of Mr. Rossman and associates. I wish to quote from the book The Luck Business: “In 1992 when Steve Wynn, one of America’s most successful casino developers, proposed to build a casino in Bridgeport, Conn. he told a group of local business people anxious to revitalize their decaying downtown not to count on his proposed gambling enterprise for much help.
‘There is no reason on earth for any of you to expect for more than one second that just because there are people here, they’re going to run into your store or restaurant or bar.”
Let’s work towards encouraging clean, sustainable, fair wage industries in our county.
