Editor,
A recent letter to the Free Lance charged the DA with wrongdoing for indicting and investigating various crimes. The corrupt recall DA Sarsfield gang continues to lie in letters to the editor by falsely charging the DA is using his office for personal gain.
Charge: DA Sarsfield indicted Paul Greer on suspicion of illegal use of criminal data bank information and implied the DA would not have if Greer hadn’t signed the recall. Fact: In the case of Mr. Greer, he was investigated and recommended for prosecution by Sheriff’s Office, along with a second suspect.
Charge: The DA pursued felony charges against Maria Araujo because she allegedly voted twice in March 2004. Fact: Again, the case was investigated by Sheriff’s Office and recommended for prosecution. One person, one vote. Serious problems in the Elections Department lead to a federal lawsuit (by the U.S. Department of Justice) against John Hodges, the Elections Department and the county.
Charge: Supervisor Jamie De La Cruz had the approval of the Board of Supervisors to conduct a survey of his constituents. De La Cruz used money from his pocket, in addition to funds from Housing Opportunity Project Employment. Fact: First, the board did not know the full content of his letter and second, HOPE is headed by De La Cruz, and third this corrupt recall DA group has it wrong. It is Housing Opportunity Project Education. A complaint was filed with the DA and it is his responsibility to investigate.
Charge: DA Sarsfield wanted to charge Amanda Hernandez, who worked for indicted attorney Michael Pekin, with practicing without a license. She has a law degree and has passed the Bar exam, but has yet to receive her license. Fact: It is a crime to practice law without a license. The DA’s Office has also recently charged a man for practicing medicine without a license. Should DA Sarsfield let him go on practicing medicine? Also a fact, Pekin was indicted by the county criminal grand jury not charged by the DA.
So this corrupt recall group refuses to let facts get in the way of their preconceived opinions while attempting to recall DA Sarsfield.
After revealing the facts, it’s evident this group condones criminal activity while, under the guise of corruption, is seeking a recall of the DA and condemns the DA for doing his job as elected, prosecuting criminals.
Get the facts before you sign a petition that is fraudulently presented. If you thought you were signing a petition to stop corruption and not a recall, the election law allows you to remove your name from the petition.
