Editor,

John Sarsfield is correct when he stated in the Free Lance article of June 22 that “the Republican Party eat their own.” What happens within this party is a cleansing process that weeds out politicians who do not stand up for the principles of the GOP.

I heard it reported at a Central Committee meeting that during John Sarsfield’s reign as the Chairman of the Republican Central Committee, the whole committee collapsed.

There were no minutes or records turned over to the next Secretary or Treasure. His leadership proved to be the destruction of the Republican Party in San Benito County. In my opinion, Mr. John Sarsfield, who is a Republican, was the best advocate for the Democrats.

Mr. John Sarsfield has been a failure in his party, once again, in my opinion. Everything he touches or has his hands in becomes a failure. Now that he is District Attorney, his administrative ability has been deplorable and his legal decisions have been overturned by the judges.

When Dr. Marvin Jones became the Chairman of the Central Committee and with his leadership, the committee got well organized and went out in a crucial election year and was able to turn that election process into a remarkable turnout for both President Bush and Gov. Arnold.

The Republican Party was back in action and the voters of San Benito County know it. That is leadership.

Mr. John Sarsfield has been trying hijack the central Committee so he can get his “people” in there so the money flowing in will help finance his recall challenge.

The Republican Party now is in a majority nationally, and I do believe the reason for this is their ability to see blight and cleanse their own party of those who don’t meet the standards. What’s going on in the central committee is a cleansing process.

As the current chair, Mrs. Zapata has thrown her support and uncontrolled power behind John Sarsfield and is once again destroying all the good work done by the previous committee. It will be interesting to see what the outcome will be. I only hope the Republican voters will be wise as to who they support and send money to.

One last thing, Los Valientes, where do I sign up?
