Hitting shots from under trees is not as difficult as you may think. First thing is to know how the ball is going to react off of your club head.

When you have some low hanging branches in your line, do not try to use a club with too much loft, because you will certainly hit it into the branches.

Also, when you hit the shot, do not hit down too abruptly on the ball, because it will jump up too quickly.

Instead, take a long iron or even a fairway wood and choke down on the grip and hit the shot like you would a long putt.

The sweeping motion of the stroke will keep the ball low and running and will get you out safely and into a position to get on the green.

For more information on this shot or any other, see your local PGA or LPGA professional.
