Do the people who are considering voting yes on G really believe
that their fruit, vegetables and meat come from the local market?
Do these same people realize that in order to operate an ‘ag’
business that most farmers and ranchers borrow money from a lending
institution to develop their crop or buy their livestock year to
year and when their crop or animals sell, they pay their bills?
“Do the people who are considering voting yes on G really believe that their fruit, vegetables and meat come from the local market? Do these same people realize that in order to operate an ‘ag’ business that most farmers and ranchers borrow money from a lending institution to develop their crop or buy their livestock year to year and when their crop or animals sell, they pay their bills?
To borrow their operating expenses, loans are usually secured with their property. So if you think G will stop development, it will also stop agriculture and ranching.
Banks and creditors don’t like to lend on something they can’t get their money out of, what they call non-conforming loans. Rezoning and making larger parcels will make this dirt less valuable to these lenders.
So when you hear ‘they lost the farm’ there are a lot of factors that usually lead up to it and rezoning land to so-call preserve it is not the answer.
So you city folks, if you think you will continue to look out and see cattle in the fields and hills, and crops growing in the fields, think again – you might just see bare fields, empty hills and your groceries will be sent to us by foreign countries.”
