Many, many thanks to whoever fixed the population and elevation
numbers on the Hollister city limit sign along Highway 25. Now can
someone please put the correct time on the historic clock above

“I read an article in the Monday, Feb. 16 edition of the Free Lance by an Anzar High School student about their homecoming parade. This student stated MEChA’s display earned the principal’s choice award.
MEChA is the student movement section of Aztlan. I knew this movement was growing across California, but was not aware of it here in San Benito County. I object to this organization being part of our public schools. I voice my objection of allowing an organization that openly states its goal is the overthrow of California and return it to Mexico being on our school grounds.
We won a war against Mexico and California became a part of the United States. The flag on top of Fremont’s Peak stands for that win and I do not think an organization or movement of that type should be allowed in our schools.”
“Our county government is the work of many generations of people who have lived here, some with pay and others donated their time and energy with little or no pay. It is the work of the citizens of the county, and not paid individuals or companies who write as they are told.
Our present government has a director of planning, a planning commission appointed by the supervisors – one from each district at the pleasure of the supervisor. The supervisors hire the director of planning, the planning commission uses the director of planning and his staff as a source of information. We elect the supervisors.
There are meetings of the supervisors, the planning commission, and they are advertised and open to the public. How many people attend these meetings? Very few. Our government doesn’t need changing. Vote no on G and elect the people who have families that have been in the county for several generations. And know the county’s history, attend meetings and become informed.”
“I would like to commend the No on G campaign for the exemplary grassroots campaign they have executed over the following months. They have worked against a high dollar special interest group with no local connection, fueled by high powered attorneys. The heart and the spirit behind the No on G campaign is what makes San Benito County a truly wonderful place to work and live.”
