Measure G.
“The majority of the voters in this county have properly defeated Measure G. Some negative responses to this positive voter action is to call the voters ‘very, very, stupid’ (Rebecca McGovern) and for this statement a reminder was given to Rebecca to look into the mirror. I believe that this advice is right on target as her childish attitude follows that of a little boy whining and complaining when he doesn’t get his way. Another message put forth by Supervisor Pat Loe is of a more sinister nature as she sweetly calls for a healing process. Those in attendance at the April 1, 2004 Board of Supervisors meeting to protest Measure G will recall her crusty statement ‘trust us we know what is best for you’ and then without any public debate or discussion immediately voted with Cruz, Scagliotti and Kesler to implement Measure G. This was a direct effort to deny citizens the right to vote. Having said this, I like the word RECALL especially when used in the phrase ‘RECALL PAT LOE.’ By the way, under the election rules for RECALL one must be a registered voter in the district in which the RECALL takes place. Any District 3 activists out there? If you are among the citizens that truly care for San Benito County, now is the time to step forward to help RECALL PAT LOE. You only need 25 percent of District 3 registered voters. This action isn’t impossible, although citizens will have to deal with the wrath of the Pinnacle.”
“Here we go again, more wacky stuff. We’re going to build a new fire station. But whoops, wait a minute. We’re going to lay off the fire chief first, and then we’re going to build a new dog pound. But don’t worry. We can always use an old one for the employees that are going to get laid off from the city. Boy, this isn’t Hollister anymore. This is wacky town.”
“‘Lies and the lying liar who tells them’ – that was the editorial headline written by the publisher of the weekly history paper last week. What a hoot; a perfect example of the pot calling the kettle black.
Let me preface MY opinion with a disclaimer: I don’t care for Mr. Velazquez in the least, and I voted for Measure G and Don Marcus.
Having said that, Ms. Cone has got to get over her silly self-righteous hypercritical self. In her editorial she wrote about Mr. Velazquez’s alleged lies. She said, “… not just lies, but malicious lies designed to harm good people in this community.” In an election, is there any other kind of lie, Ms. Cone?
In MY opinion, the Pinnacle has done far worse to many “good people” in this community before, during and after an election. Over the years, their slanted, one-sided articles, editorial and columns set the tone for this past couple elections. It’s incredible that during this election she changed her tactic and said she didn’t want any mudslinging. Heck, she owns the mud hole.
The fact here is Ms. Cone got caught on the wrong side of Measure G and wants to divert attention. Nice try!
As for Mr. Velazquez telling lies and slandering people, if Ms. Cone was right about that, she’d already have her loyal attorney J. Noble Dagget filing lawsuits rather than writing ‘liar, liar, pants on fire’ editorials.”
