CHADD: Join CHADD, Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder, at Cerra Vista School for a short video presentation on Tuesday, March 30 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room. COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE NETWORK: The Community Assistance Network will host a second strategic planning session on Tuesday, March 30 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Veterans’ Memorial Building, 6401 San Benito St., Hollister. The purpose of the session is to bring together local youth service providers as a first step toward coordinating the county’s services for youth. Participants will be given the opportunity to share information about their organization, receive information about other youth serving organizations and will be provided with the opportunity to gain valuable strategies for strengthening their organization, developing community assets and improving community relationships. KICK THE HABIT: Learn a step-by-step approach to quit smoking and how to maintain a smoke-free life at the YMCA, 339 Fifth St., March 30 to May 11. The class will meet every Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m., with a free orientation on the first day. Registration is $60. Bring a friend for free with advanced registration. Bay Meadows Bus Trip: A bus trip to Bay Meadows will be held April 14 at $60 per person. The fee includes bus transportation to Bay Meadows, tip for driver, admission, program and buffet, including snacks. The bus departs at 9:30 a.m. from Gold’s Gym parking lot and returns at 6:30 p.m. Reservation and money must be turned in by March 31 to the SBCAOR Office.
San Benito County Historical Society: The San Benito County Historical Society will be holding its monthly general meeting on March 31 at 7 p.m. at the Dunne Park Club House, at West and 6th streets in Hollister. A reading will be offered pertaining to the history of Jesse Ross and Warren Bowden, two early pioneers in San Benito County. Refreshments will be served and the event is free to the public.
Pinnacles: Pinnacles National Monument will be opening the Bear Gulch Cave to public access until Wednesday, March 31. After March 31 the cave will be closed again until October. For more information contact the Bear Gulch Visitor Center at (831) 389-4485, ext. 0 or online at www.nps.gov/pinn.
Beg and borrow: The Monterey Peninsula Kiwanis Club is sponsoring a “beg, borrow and deal” event to raise money for local schools and the Children’s Miracle Network. The fund-raiser is for high-school students in teams of three. The last weekend in April, teams will complete tasks on a list, similar to a scavenger hunt.

Snow White: Rainbow Theater presents “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” Friday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 3 at 5 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building in downtown Hollister. STUDENT ART: Students from Anzar, Gilroy and San Benito high schools have their artwork exhibited in a Gavilan College Exhibit through April 2 at the Gavilan Library, 5055 Santa Theresa Blvd., Gilroy. Admission is free. Thursday, April 1 there will be an artists’ reception from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the art gallery.

State Fair Online Entries: Most competitive programs for the 2004 California State Fair can now be entered online by visiting the State Fair Web site at http://www.bigfun.org/html/competitions.aspx. Programs accepted online include: open livestock, junior livestock, youth exhibits, county fair best of show, California fine art, California creative arts, California’s kitchen, commercial cheese and industrial and technology education.
