San Benito Aquatics hosted a Coast Valley Aquatic League tri-meet at the San Benito High School pool on Saturday with the Gilroy Gators and the Morgan Hill Makos.

San Benito defeated Morgan Hill 326-134 but lost against Gilroy 320-249. During the summer, each team competes four times against different teams within the league.

A large number of SBA swimmers just started in May, and for most this was their first opportunity to swim at a real swim meet.

Some of this weekend’s great performances came from several of SBA relay teams. First-place finishes were turned in by the girls 8-under 100 medley relay team of Kaiya Richards, Caitlin Schafer, Matti Donovan and Haley Larson.

Both boys and girls 9- and 10-year-old medley relay teams placed first. The girls team was made up of Morgan DiDomenico, Emily Blondin, Kim Hulley and Sydnee DiDomenico, and the boys team members were Nick Angulo, Josh Schafer, Tanner Carillo-Zazuetta and Nathan Thomas.

At the end of the summer, there is a championship meet that lasts three days. The team with the most points is the CVAL championship team.

Swimmers who are interested in competitive swimming with San Benito Aquatics can contact Coach Cathy Larson 636-2846 or Coach Christine Schafer 636-1736 or stop by the High School pool during morning practice between 7-10 a.m.
