Hollister 11-12’s face off tonight after winning games last
weekend
The Hollister National 9-10 ‘B’ team got just enough offense Monday night to defeat Gonzales 3-1 in the District 9 All-Star tournament in Hollister.

Despite not getting many balls out of the infield, Hollister was still able to walk away with the victory. Hollister had seven hits in the game, but most weren’t hit very hard.

Zach Zanger led the way with 11 strikeouts, giving up five hits. It was the first ever six-inning game for Zanger, said manager Karen Achen.

Hollister scored all three of its runs in the fourth inning. Zanger led off with a double. David Achen and Dylon Ito walked and moved around on passed balls. Chris Schlegel brought in all three runs with a base hit.

But Hollister couldn’t get anything else going. In the fifth inning with two out, Zanger and Achen reached base on balls dropped by the outfielder, and Ito loaded the bases with a hit to right. But Gonzales stuck out the last batter to end the threat.

Gonzales put together a threat of its own in the bottom of the sixth inning. Shortstop Danny Bravo fielded a softly hit ground ball, but his throw to first was just late to allow the first batter to reach.

But Zanger got the next two batters to strikeout looking then swinging and finally got a comebacker to end the game.
