The League of United Latin American Citizens is sponsoring an informational election forum to educate residents about the upcoming elections, the importance of voting and how to get involved next week.
The forum will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 24 at 7pm at the San Benito County Board of Supervisors Chambers.
Guest speakers Steve Ybarra, an elections consultant with the Secretary of State’s Office and Nativo Lopez, a LULAC supporter, will be speaking about topics such as voter participation, absentee voting and civic participation, said Mickie Luna, LULAC president.
Other speakers will be on hand to inform residents about the candidates running for office, and while all candidates are welcome to attend, none will be speaking, Luna said.
“Our goal is to get the Latino community more involved,” Luna said. “LULAC wants to be part of the solution and get residents to be more knowledgeable about their community.”
All residents are invited to attend the forum. The Board of Supervisors Chambers is located at 498 Fourth St. in Hollister.
