Angels 12, Athletics 10

The Angels held on to defeat the Athletics 12-10 in the opening game of the Hollister National Adult Baseball League Saturday.

The Athletics scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning but couldn’t complete the comeback. Chris Croggins hit a ground-rule double in the inning that bounced over the left field fence.

The three Angels pitchers held the A’s to just five hits in the game – two of which were by catcher Shannon Baron.

Both teams scored a run in the first inning. The Athletics came back to go up 4-3 for the only time in the game in the fifth inning, but the Angels quickly regained the lead for good.

Damian Moore, Jesse Duran and Croggins pitched for the A’s.

Monday

Team 3 5, Silver Bullets 3

The Silver Bullets rallied in the fifth, loading the bases loaded but couldn’t score. Matt McKay and Bryan Rudolph had doubles for the Silver Bullets. Sal Herndandez went 1 for 2 with a walk.

Nick Lovejoy had four strikeouts in the first four innings. Team 3 scored three runs in the sixth inning.
