An unidentified girl from Santa Cruz, whose name and age were not released by the CHP, was taken to Hazel Hawkins where she was treated for minor scrapes and bruises and later released, the CHP said.

The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. All that is known for sure is that at about 6:30 p.m. Monday, Mann was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer on San Justo Road about three-tenths of a mile south of Prescott Road with James and the two unidentified youths as passengers.

The Explorer apparently ran off the road and into a ditch at an unknown rate of speed. It flipped end-over-end an unknown number of times, ejecting all four occupants before coming to rest in a nearby field, the CHP said.

None of the occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, investigators said. The accident is still under investigation.
