Three local cowgirls are giving it their all this weekend at the Queen competition for the 59th Grand National Rodeo, Horse and Stock Show.
Jamie Andrade and Natalie LaCorte, both of Hollister, and Shannon Renz of Tres Pinos and will compete to reign over the Grand National which includes major professional rodeo, elegant horse show, hundreds of livestock on display, western art and numerous special events.
The Queen competition is Saturday.
Andrade has been riding for 18 years and has shown horses at various Hollister events. She has been involved with numerous Future Farmers of America activities, including being named Barn Dance Queen. She has also assisted with livestock at local fairs and was named Miss San Benito Rodeo 2000.
LaCorte has been riding for 12 years and has shown horses throughout California, Nevada and Texas. She is a member of both the 4-H and Future Farmers of America where she has been involved with horses, rabbits, sewing and arts and crafts.
Renz has been riding for 20 years and has shown horses at Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties. She is a member of 4-H, where she has been involved with numerous projects including sewing and wildlife.
