One minute left, the next minute right.

One of my neighbors and I went out to play recently and he was complaining about how bad he had been playing.
He muttered, “One minute left, the next minute right.”
I watched him hit the first tee shot and noticed that his shoulders were not aligned with his feet and hips. So I moved him into a correct set-up and, voila, down the middle it went. And for the next nine holes, he was 3-over par.
The problem is, proper alignment is an easy thing to forget. Short of having one of your playing partners watch you every time you set up, you need to be very aware of your own alignment any time the ball starts to go astray. If you need alignment help, see your local PGA or LPGA golf professional.
