“As someone who normally works all night, I am spared the ordeal of trying to drive my little car through crowded downtown traffic. Fighting for clearance or parking with all of the oversized SUV’s and minivans is a nightmare.

What is worse is that many drivers are just so inconsiderate. But what is particularly annoying is that there is no place in this town to recharge my electric car while I park. Electric cars are a quiet, clean alternative to those gas guzzlers. But without a place to recharge, no one is ever going to want to drive an electric. I think that without competition the monopoly held by the gas companies is going to continue on. That means more foreign wars for oil, more needless pollution. Until competition can occur, I think the government should subsidize electric cars by offering tax incentives to buy them.

We need to end our dependence on foreign oil.”

“This is in regards to the editorial concerning the Orabuena case. I thought the Free Lance had high standards. Apparently, I was wrong. That editorial was one of the most irresponsible pieces I’ve ever read. It’s beyond comprehension why you write something like that. Whether it’s just or unjust to bring Mr. Orabuena to trial is not the point. It is going to trial and I believe you’ve tainted the jury pool! Please use some better judgement in the future. Let the judicial system do its job and please do yours more responsibly.”

“Legality, or should I say illegality, of making it law without public hearings. Evidently, the voters of Monterey, Carmel and Pebble Beach were not happy with his decisions while a board member over there. Who the heck is this SBC Board of Supervisors asking legal advice from?”

“When is the last time the County of San Benito has had a forensic audit of their books?”

“It could be that our district attorney is conducting his business outside his office for good reason. Elected officials do not press a time clock. It has been a known fact that the court house on the corner of Fifth and Monterey streets has a lot of politically placed employees who report to certain elected officials.”

“Mayor Conroy, what a disappointment you turned out to be. Well, I guess it should be expected. By the way, are you going to collect sewer payments owed to the city?”

“In response to the Free Lance Nov. 6 article: Richard Scagliotti’s attendance at Board of Supervisor’s meetings has faltered, it sure has.

There is no conspiracy to destroy Scagliotti. Where I come from, they say if you give a man enough rope, he’ll hang himself. Thanks to the voters, they gave him plenty of rope by continuing to return him to office. If that is conspiracy, thank the dumb-de-dumb dumb voters.

He is responsible for giving away our roads, sewers, water and for overburdening our infrastructure.”

“I have to agree with the editorial written by the Free Lance on Nov. 7. Apparently the judge feels the investigation is important to read as he took the two volumes into evidence in his courtroom. I still have hope in the judicial system and reputable newspapers such as the Free Lance for not being in the back pocket of some elected officials in this county.”
