With regard to President Lincoln: When President Lincoln was a
lawyer, he went to court. President Lincoln didn’t take his
secretary every morning to Starbucks. He also had a long
transitional meeting with his predecessor after winning the
election instead of accusing the outgoing president of stealing
some file cabinet.

“This is to the person who claimed a reliable source said Cantu wrote the Sara Jones letter. Written like a true Sarsfield supporter, it’s always someone else’s fault. That is as bizarre as when the DA told the Board of Supes that drug dealers and organized crime were going to donate $30,000 to another candidate to remove him from office.
Sarsfield seems to have a problem with telling the truth as do his supporters. If he doesn’t outright lie, he stretches and twists it to suit himself, even after being caught on video.
Examples: Two firecrackers have turned into a half a stick of dynamite, a few reports turned into 12 boxes, 60 days turned into eight months and drug dealers are coming to San Benito County to remove him from office, accidental manslaughter turned into second degree murder with torture. Exaggerations and fabrications equally bizarre.”
“Here I am all the way up in Oregon and I just couldn’t help myself with making a comment on your local story (online edition) regarding the 75 pounds of cannabis seized Dec. 4 and the subsequent years of prison time taxpayers might be paying to keep them incarcerated. Light bulb goes on and yet dear national treasure illegal pill popping Rush Limbaugh remains free and employed! Just amazing.”
“What is going on with our wacky DA? Every week he sticks his foot in his mouth with some harebrained statement or idea. This time it’s about campaign limits.
Sarsfield stated, ‘In law enforcement, in particular. Because, there would be nothing stopping a drug dealer or organized crime from walking into my race or the sheriff’s race or the county marshal’s race and dropping thirty thousand dollars on that race.’
That is the dumbest thing I’ve heard yet. Drug lords and the mafia are coming to Hollister to unseat crime fighter Sarsfield and his sidekick, Sheriff Sluggo, because of the fabulous job he has done so far. Hell, Sarsfield only works halftime and doesn’t even go to court. He can’t be much of a threat to the real criminals. If organized crime had something going on in our community, you’d think they’d donate to his campaign just to keep him in office.
All wise-assing aside, limiting campaign contributions would only favor the incumbent or people with money, which is why he and Hill truly support the idea. If we were to limit the spending rather than the amount of the donation it would be fair to all. Take the average cost of a run for local office and make that the max any candidate could spend. Allow them to collect that amount only and list all donors. Sounds fair to me, at least the little guy would have a chance to compete on a level playing field.”
“I agree with the guy who wrote about not getting the trees in front of his house trimmed by the city. Not only is it laziness on the city’s part, but it also allows the overgrown tree branches to block out much of the light from the streetlights, making our streets darker and more dangerous at night. Let’s get busy clipping, instead of trying to unfairly clip us taxpayers even more.”
