A limited number of tickets remain for the Monterey Symphony’s Christmas program Sunday in Hollister.

This year’s program is titled “Joyeux Noel – A Symphony Christmas in Candlelight” and is composed of all French music. Conducted by Symphony Chorus director Leroy Kromm, the first performance will be Sunday at 8:30 p.m. at St. Benedict Church on 1200 Fairview Road

Other performances will be at the Carmel Mission Basilica, Rio Road and Lasuen Drive in Carmel on Wednesday, Dec. 18 and Thursday, Dec. 19. Both Carmel performances begin at 8:30 p.m. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

Tickets for the Hollister performance are $20 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Tickets for the Carmel performances are $40 for adult front seating, $20 rear and $10 for children under 12.

Past programs have sold out quickly and have had waiting lists of more than 100 people. Out of respect to the houses of worship, no tickets will be sold at the door.

The program includes selections from Camille Saint-Saen’s “Christmas Oratorio,” Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s “Song of the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Jules Massenet’s celebrated “Meditation” from his opera “Thais” with symphony concertmaster William Barbini, Charles Gounod’s “Ave Maria” with counter-tenor Foster Sommerlad and Harpist Karen Thielen, and traditional French carols.

The Symphony Brass Ensemble, led by principal trumpet Brian Anderson, will perform music by Francois Couperin, Jean-Baptiste Lully and Jean Joseph Mouret. Barbini and his wife Kineko Barbini will also perform Jean Marie Leclair’s Sonata for Two Violins in C Major.

The Symphony Christmas in Candlelight program has been sponsored by Villa Serra, the Cannery Row Company, and Trust Investments and Private Banking Division of First National Bank of Central California, San Benito Bank and South Valley National Bank.
