The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office is reporting “no less than” three mountain lion sightings near the Stonegate community in the past week, according to a statement from the agency.
According to the press release:
In the past week there have been no less than three (3) sightings of a mountain lion in the area of a residential community, called Stonegate, in Tres Pinos, CA (San Benito County). Though San Benito County Sheriff’s Deputies have yet to spot the animal, a resident was able to capture a photo of it. That photo is attached to this press release and it does, in fact, appear to be a mountain lion.
The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office is asking that all county residents remain vigilant while enjoying our beautiful county. Please direct yourself to the following links to the Department of Fish and Wildlife recommendations on how to protect yourself, your property and your animals. There is also information on how to best react if you encounter a lion.
