Public works crew members clean out a gutter along San Benito Street on Thursday.

About a half-inch of rain had fallen outside the local water district office as of 3:30 p.m., according to the agency’s executive director.
As the rain continued at around 3:30 p.m., San Benito County Water District Executive Director Jeff Cattaneo pointed to the current amount of precipitation on the gauge outside of the district office. That gauge is constantly measuring the precipitation levels from the storm that started around noon Thursday.
The area, however, will need a lot more of this rain to alleviate long-term drought conditions and empty reservoirs in the county, he said.
Look back for more from the interview with Cattaneo.
