I am writing this letter to announce that after 36 years of crossing children at Tres Pinos school, I am retiring. I want to thank all the principals, teachers, school board members, parents, and students for all the kindness and waves of support during my many years as crossing guard!
I will soon turn 80 years young and feel that in my present physical state and age, it would be much safer to have someone younger and more agile protecting the children of Tres Pinos School. In the past years I have met many children and parents while crossing kids at the busy Airline Highway intersection. I have watched small children grow into adults and return with their own children to this school. I even had the pleasure of crossing my own grandchildren, Adam and Amanda. I hope that with the new crossing guard, we can keep our perfect safety record, and keep all our children safe.
Thanks again for all the wonderful memories and times that have been shared with me because of the Tres Pinos School!
