The Community FoodBank of San Benito County is now accepting bids for the remodel project at its San Felipe Road location.

Here is the announcement that came out Wednesday from Maria Lynn Thomas, the organization’s CEO:

If what you or someone you know likes best about being a building contractor is helping people through creative solutions, Community FoodBank of San Benito is proud to announce a unique opportunity. The FoodBank is now accepting bids for a comprehensive, floor-to-ceiling remodeling project at its 1133 San Felipe Road location.

This is a chance to embrace a vision of service and commitment to the community, and to transform aging office and warehouse spaces into an inviting, welcoming place for the 5,200 people who are helped by the FoodBank each month. If this sounds like an exciting project, the request for bid proposals can be found here.

Thanks for your interest.

I cannot remember a more exciting event in my professional life: Community FoodBank of San Benito is embarking on a transformative journey. That journey — more specifically building renovation — represents a bright new chapter for both the FoodBank and for the entire community. This note accompanies the posting of a request for proposals for an ambitious construction project that we can all be proud of.

The plans have been drawn, and they depict a bright, airy, inviting place, one with modern food handling capabilities beyond anything we dreamed of just a few months ago. So celebrate with us, and if you know anyone who might be interested in tackling this exciting opportunity, spread the word!
