Caltrans will begin a 24/7 closure of the right lane in each direction from US Highway 101 to the Alameda off State Route 156 starting Monday. The closure is due to a project that will resurface and improve guardrails on 156.
The lane closure begins Monday, July 31 and is expected to last for two weeks, according to a Caltrans press release.
Additionally, the left lane in each direction from Route 156 from Highway 101 to the Alameda will be closed 24/7 beginning Monday, August 14. The closure is expected to last two weeks, but is contingent upon completion of work on the right lanes.
Motorists can expect to encounter lane closures in 156 in both directions during the week from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and overnight from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Delays are expected not to exceed 15 minutes. California Highway Patrol will assist with traffic control.
Watsonville-based Graniterock Company is the contractor for the $5 million project, the press release said. The project is expected to be completed in November.
The press release reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.
