A vegetation fire spread to vehicles and scraps at a property on San Juan Road in Hollister June 1, according to authorities.

The Hollister Fire Department responded to the blaze at 2120 San Juan Road about 6:25pm. Fire Chief Jonathan Goulding said they received conflicting reports of auto parts burning.

“Additional callers reported vehicles on fire, with flames extending to nearby trees and spreading into the surrounding vegetation,” Goulding said.

The first fire engine company that arrived reported multiple vehicles burning on the property, an auto wrecking yard, Goulding added. The incident commander requested additional resources and authorities closed San Juan Road in both directions approaching the fire.

Firefighters had the blaze under control by 7:40pm June 1. One firefighter suffered a minor injury during the response, Goulding added.

Property damage included several scrap vehicles, vegetation and a fence.
