Al was born in Fresno on December 20, 1918 and spent his whole
life in California.

Al was born in Fresno on December 20, 1918 and spent his whole life in California. He graduated from Santa Cruz High School and moved on to Modesto Junior College before finishing his education at San Diego State. He served as a marine in World War II. His career was then found with Southern Pacific Railroad where he worked as a conductor for 41 years. He enjoyed traveling, camping and mostly, just spending time with his family. Al was a valued community member and volunteer in every area he resided in throughout his life. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, June Morelli Thompson of Hollister; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Linda Thompson of South Lake Tahoe; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Danny Gard of Vacaville; grandchildren, Lynn, Jon and Matt Thompson and Daniel Gard; and great-grandchildren Nicholas and Nathan Bell. He was predeceased by his son Jim Thompson and granddaughter Stephanie Thompson.

There will be no memorial service. However, should you wish to make a donation in his honor, please do so to your favorite charity.
