Carla Jean Alvernaz and Zeph Thomas Thorning III were married
May 31, 2003 at the Mission in San Juan Bautista. The bride is the
daughter of Carlos and Amelia Alvernaz of Hollister and the groom
is the son of Zeph and Margaret Thorning of Hollister.
Carla Jean Alvernaz and Zeph Thomas Thorning III were married May 31, 2003 at the Mission in San Juan Bautista. The bride is the daughter of Carlos and Amelia Alvernaz of Hollister and the groom is the son of Zeph and Margaret Thorning of Hollister.

The bride wore a white silk ballgown with embroidered bodice by Carmela Sutera and a silk tulle veil embroidered with crystals. The groom wore a white silk tie, French cuff shirt and three button wool suit by Brioni. Two hundred guests carrying maypoles joined the bride and groom for an old fashioned wedding parade through San Juan to the reception at Casa Maria. The parade was lead by the couples’ nephews, Hayden and Braz Alvernaz, and included music by the bride’s brother and father. Guests enjoyed Sangria during cocktail hour, a seated dinner outside overlooking one of the groom’s family ranches and an ice cream sundae bar for dessert. The couple honeymooned in Miami and Jamaica.

The maid of honor was Kelly Alvernaz, sister of the bride, and Kenneth Dassel, cousin of the groom, was best man.

The bride is a 1992 graduate of San Benito High School and 1999 graduate of Colorado State University and works as Regional Director of Marketing for a national homebuilder.

The groom is a 1991 graduate of San Benito High School and 2000 graduate of Colorado State University and is a Project Engineer for Rudolph and Sletten. The couple resides in the Sacramento area with their dog, a Jack Russell Terrier named Maximus.
