The JV Balers (8-4-2, 5-0-1) came up against a determined Live Oak team on Monday and needed all the skills to pull out a 2-1 victory.

With 12:20 gone in the first half, Armando Espinoza took the ball down the left sideline and sailed a cross to Miguel Guzman for the first score of the day.

The Acorns scored off a header from a corner kick. And the half ended at 1-1.

It wasn’t until the 31st minute into the second half when defenseman Jose Carlos Vasquez stole a ball, wove the length of the field and drilled a shot into the net to put the Balers ahead.

In the 37th minute, Baler Goalie Jose Valdez made a nice dive on a penalty kick to stop the ball and preserve the victory.
