Anzar’s boys soccer match against Pacific Grove was postponed

GONZALES
Lauren Bellone scored a pair of goals and the Anzar High girls soccer team defeated host Gonzales Friday 3-0 in Coastal Athletic League play.
The Hawks are now 3-0-1 in the CAL, 3-3-2 overall.
Bellone deposited what eventually turned out to be the game-winner just 11 minutes into regulation Friday, while teammate Michelle Chatley provided a two-goal cushion before the half.
Anzar head coach Albert Flores said Chatley connected on a corner kick that bounced back to her, at which point Chatley delivered a shot from the side that found the back of the net.
“Basically, we controlled the whole game,” Flores said.
Bellone tacked on her second goal of the game, Anzar’s third, 25 minutes into the second half when she headed in a goal off a corner kick.
“It was a muddy game with a continuous rainfall, but the team played excellent,” Flores said. “By far our best played game of the year.”
The Hawks will host York on Tuesday. Kick-off is at 3:30 p.m.

ANZAR HIGH BOYS SOCCER
Anzar High’s boys soccer game against Pacific Grove Friday was postponed due to inclement weather.
Heavy rainfall in San Juan Bautista delayed the game to a later date, although no make-up has been announced.
“We’re not quite sure yet,” Anzar athletic director Chris Wardlaw said. “Hopefully sometime next week.”
If the make-up is scheduled for next week, it would likely take place on Friday, as the Hawks have two games already scheduled next week on Monday and Wednesday.
On Monday, Anzar will play at Calvary Christian, while on Wednesday the Hawks will visit York. Both games are slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
