Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park in Gilroy, Calif. announced This week that it is extending its 2003 operating season and will remain open three additional weekends.

Bonfante Gardens will be open weekends only from Nov. 1-16. The hours of operation on the extended days will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The park’s rides and attractions will be open.

“The extended season is a great reason for people who have been curious about Bonfante Gardens to come to Gilroy and visit the park,” vice president Barb Granter said. “The fall colors are changing, the weather is beautiful, and families can enjoy the park’s array of family rides and attractions, and lush gardens.”

This is the first time Bonfante Gardens has been open to the general public in November and marks the park’s longest season to date. Bonfante Gardens has enjoyed success in 2003 under the management of Paramount Parks, including a significant increase in attendance. Because of the response from guests, Paramount Parks’ management team and the Bonfante Gardens board of directors agreed it is a good idea to keep the park open into November.

“There are still a lot of people visiting the park, and we want to make sure that we keep the gates open for our guests,” said Bob Kraemer, chairman of the board for Bonfante Gardens. “Paramount Parks has done a great job of raising awareness of the park and we plan to finish the season on a high note.”

Additionally, during the month of October, Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park celebrates autumn with a Harvest Festival and a Halloween “Spook-tacular,” featuring friendly scarecrows, an open farm fair, a pumpkin patch and a variety of children’s activities. The park will be open and the rides will be operating during the remaining festival weekends, Oct. 18-19 and 25-26. For more information on the park’s 2003 season, call 408-840-7100.
