have been reopened. A total of 32 Prairie falcons fledged from
eight nests, and American Kestrels and Red-tailed hawks produced
young this year.

Indian Storytelling Event: The 8th annual Indian Canyon’s “Indian Storytelling Event” will take place July 26, featuring storytelling, Ohlone dance groups, food, a raffle and ceremony. There will also be a Californian Indian Art Show from 1 to 5:30 p.m. The event takes place at Indian Canyon. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students. Details: 637-4238 or www.indiancanyon.org.
Library book sale: Friends of the Library is having a book sale Saturday, July 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. by the courtyard and shed behind the library at 470 Fifth St. New and used books are for sale for every interest area and reading level. Donated books are appreciated also. Please bring them to the front desk clerk and say they are for the “Friends Book sale,” which is held each month. Details: 636-4107.
Scholastic book fair: Girl Scout Troop #3473 will hold a book fair from July 28 to Aug. 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. The “Clued into Reading” book fair will offer the most sought after titles in literature for every reader and Spanish selections. The book fair also offers school supplies, posters, stuffed animals, craft kits, computer games and more.
The fair will be held at San Juan Bautista Library and all proceeds will benefit the SJB City Library. Details: 623-4360.
Historical Society Meeting: The San Benito County Historical Society will hold its monthly general meeting July 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dunne Park club house, Sixth and West streets. Anita Kane, a local landscape architect, will speak on plants and trees of SBC. There is no charge to the public, and refreshments will be served. Call 635-0335 with questions.
Show and shine: The Show and Shine event happens every last Wednesday of the month at the corner of Fourth and San Benito streets from 5 p.m. to dusk. The event showcases local hot rods and Harleys. Various nonprofit groups benefit from funds raised at the show, including: the San Benito County YMCA on July 30; Girl Scouts Aug. 27; San Benito County Guide Dogs for the Blind Sept. 24; and the Spring Grove School Theatre Arts Program Oct. 29.
