Bolado Charity Rodeo: The 10th annual Bolado Charity Rodeo will take place Aug. 23 and 24. Entry forms are available at local feed stores and must be postmarked by Aug. 1 to P.O. Box 2243, Hollister, CA, 95024. All proceeds benefit youth organizations in San Benito County. Details: 673-1399.

Congressman Farr town hall meetings: Congressman Sam Farr, D-Carmel, will hold his annual summer town hall meetings throughout the 17th Congressional District’s region in August. SBC Chamber members needed: The San Benito County Chamber of Commerce is looking for chamber members that would be interested in serving on the SBC Chamber Board. Pinnacle Climbing Areas Reopen: Rock formations subject to advisory closures to rock climbing and off-trail hiking for protecting nesting birds of prey at the Pinnacles National Monument have been reopened. A total of 32 Prairie falcons fledged from eight nests, and American Kestrels and Red-tailed hawks produced young this year.

Relay For Life Sponsors: Precision Laser Engraving is selling Italian charms for the American Cancer Society benefit, Relay for Life, that read “Relay ’03.” The charms are $18 and for every charm sold, $10 will go toward the relay event.

Family vacation Bible school: Hollister United Methodist Church is offering a family vacation bible school Aug. 3-7 from 5-7:30 p.m. Dinner will be served every evening. Relay for Life: The Hollister Relay for Life and The American Cancer Society will hold a dining out fund-raiser July 23 at Chevy’s Mexican Restaurant in Gilroy in which Chevy’s will donate 20 percent of the proceeds.

Children’s program: The Aromas branch of the Monterey County Free Libraries is hosting a children’s program Thursday, July 24, at 10 a.m. by Story Creek Critters. The clowns offer a hilarious show of slap-stick comedy, puppets and magic with audience participation.

This program is part of the Aromas Library’s Summer Reading Program “Reading is a Picnic.” Children are also invited to fill out reading logs and win prizes.

Indian Storytelling Event: The 8th annual Indian Canyon’s “Indian Storytelling Event” will take place July 26, featuring storytelling, Ohlone dance groups, food, a raffle and ceremony. There will also be a Californian Indian Art Show from 1 to 5:30 p.m. The event takes place at Indian Canyon. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students. Library book sale: Friends of the Library is having a book sale Saturday, July 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. by the courtyard and shed behind the library at 470 Fifth St. New and used books are for sale for every interest area and reading level. Donated books are appreciated also. Please bring them to the front desk clerk and say they are for the “Friends Book sale,” which is held each month. Details: 636-4107.
