STUDENT ART: Students from Anzar, Gilroy and San Benito high schools have their artwork exhibited in a Gavilan College Exhibit through April 2 at the Gavilan Library, 5055 Santa Theresa Blvd., Gilroy. Admission is free. Thursday, April 1 there will be an artists’ reception from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the art gallery.

PINNACLES: The Bear Gulch Cave at Pinnacles National Monument is now open and will remain open until March 31.

SYMPHONY: The South Valley Symphony will have their next concert Saturday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church at 8455 Wren Ave. in Gilroy. The concert has been designated as a “Celebration of Soloists,” and the orchestra will be under the direction of Henry Mollicone. Tickets are on sale at Dorothy McNett’s Place and The Mission Gallery in San Juan Bautista, and are also available at the church one hour prior to the performance. Community Grange: Legendary songwriter and performer Steve Gillette along with traditional singer and musician Cindy Mangsen are the headline performers for the Aromas Community Grange’s new concert series. The event is Thursday, March 11 at 7 p.m. at the Aromas Community Grange Hall located at the corner of Rose and Bardue streets in Aromas. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for students and $6 for quiet children under 12. Tickets will be available at the door beginning at 6 p.m.

passion of the christ: The public is invited to a community discussion and forum on the movie “The Passion of the Christ.” It will be held Friday, March 12 at 7 p.m. at the Hollister Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2121 Sunnyslope Road. Awards Banquet: The Pinnacles Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction will be holding an awards banquet Friday, March 12 at Casa Maria in San Juan Bautista. Seniors Council: The Advisory Council for the Area Agency on Aging for Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties will be holding public hearings to get input from the community on issues affecting seniors. Stage Company: San Benito Stage Company presents adult comedy dinner theater with Neil Simon’s “California Suite” March 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27 at The Vault Restaurant. Sweets and Wines: The Hollister Downtown Association presents Sweets and Wines of San Benito County on Saturday, March 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building. Tickets are $7 pre-sale and $10 at the door. Wine tasting is an additional $10 and includes a new event glass.

Voter Registration: In honor of National Voter Registration Week, the San Benito County Republican Central Committee will be holding a voter registration drive Saturday, March 13 from 9 a.m. to noon, near the Dingaling Cafe at the Hollister Airport. LULAC: The League of United Latin American Citizens, a national nonprofit organization that seeks to increase access to education and leadership opportunities for Hispanic/Latino youth, is seeking new members to help support its efforts to provide scholarships, educational/cultural programs, local/national conventions and trips. SBHS Graduation: The Class of 2004 graduation ceremony is scheduled for Friday, June 11, 2004. The Senior Graduation Committee is looking for people to help out. The committee is primarily responsible for planning the ceremony and Sober Grad Night. Each member who attends 80 percent or more of the committee meetings and works on a specific subcommittee is eligible to receive front row seating for themselves and one other guest at the graduation ceremony. Committee meetings will be held at 7 p.m. at the school cafeteria on: March 15, April 19, May 10, May 24 and June 7.

St. Patrick’s Day: Hollister United Methodist Church is sponsoring a traditional St. Patrick’s Day Dinner. The event will be held Wednesday, March 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hollister United Methodist Church on the corner of Fifth and Monterey streets.
