The Economic Development Corp., offices pictured here, may seek professional fundraising services to augment a possible cut to its budget as Redevelopment Agencies are dissolved.

In light of the Hollister Redevelopment Agency’s impending demise, the Economic Development Corp. of San Benito County is about to be short $75,000 annually, or about one-third of its budget.

The Hollister RDA and more than 400 others throughout the state are being forced to close down in the coming weeks, meaning no more payments to the EDC, Hollister Downtown Association (another $65,000 hit for that group) and other economic functions locally.

At Tuesday’s county board meeting, Supervisor Jerry Muenzer, who sat on the EDC board for the past year, announced that the EDC is in talks with an outside consultant to possibly provide professional fundraising services for the organization.

EDC Executive Director Nancy Martin could not be reached immediately to confirm details about the possible arrangement.
