Bluegrass at Bolado Park
The Northern California Bluegrass Society will hold its 16th
Annual Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival at Bolado Park Friday
through Sunday. More than 25 Bluegrass Musicians will be performing
and various activities will be held throughout the weekend. Ticket
pricing for the event are as followed: Friday/Sunday one-day passes
are $29 for Seniors, $16 for Youth (ages 13-17), and $32 for
Adults. Saturday one-day passes are $39 for Seniors, $21 for Youth,
and $42 for Adults. Two-day passes are $58 for Seniors, $32 for
Youth, and $64 for Adults; cost of camping on Friday and Saturday
is included in two-and three-day passes. Three-day passes are $71
for Seniors, $40 for Youth, and $80 for Adults. Children 12 and

Outdoor movie series continues
“Over the Hedge” – RJ (Bruce Willis) is a raccoon who wants things the easy way. He persuades a group of forest friends that they can find food by scavenging from humans rather than by hunting and gathering in the woods. Voices by Garry Shandling, Steve Carell and Wanda Sykes. The show is set for Thursday after 9 p.m. at the corner of Fourth and San Benito streets. Admission is free. Children should be accompanied by an adult. No alcohol or animals allowed. ‘Seussical’ opens

All-you-can-eat breakfast and Sock Hop
The Hollister United Methodist Church is hosting two events Aug. 15, starting with an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon. The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, orange juice and coffee. The cost is $9 for adults and $6 for kids 12 and under. Late in the day, there will be a ’50s Sock Hop Dance from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Guests are invited to dress in 1950s garb if desired. Guests can feast on root beer floats, hot dogs, and chips. Garden Railway Tour
The South County Garden Railroaders will be hosting their annual Garden Railway Tour Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will benefit St. Joseph’s Family Center in Gilroy and the Community Food Bank in Hollister with a food drive. The tour includes 11 model railroads running through backyard gardens in Morgan Hill, Gilroy and Hollister. Baler Summer Nights
The Baler Backers Athletic Organization is hosting the second annual Baler Summer Nights Aug. 22 at the Bolado Park Pavilion. Tickets are $65 per seat or $500 for a table for eight. The event includes a dinner, dance, no-host bar, silent and live auction, raffles and more. Ticket sales, sponsorship reservations and donation collection have started. The event raises money for the 23 athletic programs on campus that service more than 740 student athletes. Drive-thru chicken barbecue
Pet Friends will be hosting a drive-thru barbecue Sunday, Aug. 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pet Friends Center, 2975 Buena Vista Road. Charity Golf Classic
Communications Unlimited and the Hollister community are partnering with local businesses to raise money for three charities, including Standing in the Gap-Now, Compassion Pregnancy and Emmaus House. The Charity Golf Classic will be held Aug. 28, at the Diablo Golf Course at Ridgemark with $2,500 in prizes. It will include a barbecue lunch, games and entertainment followed by an evening dinner and dance. Tickets are $150 for all events, or $500 for four.
