‘The Better Way’ performs

“The Better Way,” a band from Gothenberg, Sweden, will be performing at Mars Hill Coffeehouse, 610 San Benito St., Feb. 26, at 8 p.m. Hollister is one of several stops the band will make as part of a U.S tour. ‘Los Olivos Pits’ continues

El Teatro Campesino will open its run of “Los Olivos Pits” and the one-act “Los Vendidos,” with performances at 8 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Thursday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. “Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding” is playing Friday and Saturday nights at the Swiss Louis Italian and Seafood Restaurant at Pier 39 in San Francisco, at 7 p.m. The show is an interactive comedy where the audience members play the roles of invited guests at a wedding. The evening begins with the nuptials, a wedding reception and is followed by a full Italian dinner, wedding cake and dancing. Battle of the Bands

On Feb. 27 there will a Battle of the Bands at San Benito High School in the auditorium from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be a number of student bands, such as Better Half, Jump Start, and Tragic Comeback, performing for a Guitar Center prize. Eroica trio master class and concert

Kurosawa Piano Music Foundation presents Erioca Trio Master Class and concert on Feb. 27 at the Le Petit Trianon in San Jose. ‘Path of the Padres’

The “Path of the Padres” hikes will be held on some Fridays and most Saturdays and Sundays starting on Feb. 27 and will continue through April 18. The hikes are open to the public, ages 6 years and older by advance reservation only. School group hikes may be arranged during the week. School group reservations and general public reservations are now open. At least 10 people must be involved in the hike to be able to conduct a tour. The hike begins at the Los Banos Creek Reservoir boat launch ramp at 8 a.m. and returns to the ramp at about 3:30 p.m. To make a reservation, call (209)-826-1197 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be a reservation fee of $12 per person 12 years old, and $7 per child age 6-12. A family of 5 may reserve space for 2 adults and 3 children for $30. On the day of the hike visitors must pay the State Park day use parking fee of $10 per car upon entry. Eye Candy fashion show

The Junior League of San Jose will host the 16th biennial fashion show entitled “Eye Candy” March 5 and 6 at the Fairmont Hotel, 170 S. Market St., in San Jose. The proceeds of the show will be used to invest in projects that build a better community and help young children enter elementary school ready to learn. Attendees will preview the latest spring fashions by local and national designers, including Azadeh, a local designer who won “best dress” from SFGate’s Gown Poll at the San Francisco Ballet. The Southside School Parents’ Club is hosting it’s second annual Southside Nights Fundraiser March 6, from 5 p.m. to midnight, at Bolado Park. Easter egg hunt

The Veterans of Foreign Wars will be hosting an annual Easter egg hunt at the Veterans Memorial Park, on Memorial Drive, April 3, at 1 p.m., for children ages 2 to 10. The children will be broken up into age groups in different hunting areas (ages 2-4, 5-7, and 8-10). Parents will not be allowed in the hunting area and the event starts exactly at 1 p.m. For children who do not get any eggs, there will be some available at the command post.

Learn about the early Hispanic settlers

Los Californianos, a group for descendants whose ancestors were in California by 1848, will be meeting in San Juan Bautista from April 23-25 to host their quarterly meeting. Activities include Dr. Ruben Mendoza’s latest discoveries at the Mission, and of the State Park by Joe McMahon, a short hike on the De Anza trail with a walk-through of the Casa de Anza. There will also be a Saturday breakfast and a Sunday brunch and an extensive Los Californianos traveling genealogy library will be available on Friday and Saturday. ‘Treasure island’

The 2010 Forest Theater Guild’s Centennial Season will be presenting Treasure Island the play in Carmel at the Outdoor Forest Theater from May 28 to June 20. Treasure Island is a story about a band of unsavory pirates who are pitted against the young hero Jim Hawkins. The tale is told through the eyes of Hawkins aboard the Hispaniola guided by a treasure map to Treasure Island. Tickets will begin being sold in late February.
