‘La Factoria’

“La factoria,” an original play by Rebecca Perez Ochoa, will be playing at the El Teatro Campesino Playhouse, 705 Fourth St., in San Juan Bautista through Jan. 24. Friday and Saturday shows are $12 and start at 8 p.m. Sunday shows are $10 and start at 2 p.m. The play mixes English and Spanish for a comedy about women achieving their dreams.

‘Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding’

“Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding” is playing Friday and Saturday nights at the Swiss Louis Italian and Seafood Restaurant at Pier 39 in San Francisco, at 7 p.m. The show is an interactive comedy where the audience members play the roles of invited guests at a wedding. The evening begins with the nuptials, a wedding reception and is followed by a full Italian dinner, wedding cake and dancing. SBC Chamber Dinner Dance

The San Benito County Chamber of Commerce’s 89th Annual Dinner Dance is to be held Saturday, January 16, at San Juan Oaks Golf club at 6 p.m. Tickets are now available for $50 which includes dinner, the awards ceremony and dancing to the band Local Groove. Gold Coast Poultry Show

The Gold Coast Poultry Show will be at the Bolado Park fairgrounds Jan. 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Judging begins at 9 a.m., with a lunch break from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is $8 for the general public. Showmanship by 4-H and FFA members begins at 1 p.m. and there will be a raffle at 3 p.m. In addition there will be a bird sales area, books, supplies a snack bar and Junior poultry showmanship competition in the main showroom. New Harvest youth class

A Dinner for Jessica

A Dinner for Jessica fundraiser will be held Jan. 16 at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club, in Hollister, at 6 p.m., with a no-host bar and dinner to be served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 and are limited to the first 200 people. RSVP by Jan. 10. The dinner will support the family of Jessica Huse, who has been in a coma since Aug. 2 when she was in a car accident on the way to services at Twin Oak Church in San Jose. She has been unconscious at Valley Medical Center, where she is listed in critical but stable condition. Winery Passport weekend

The Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association will kick off its 2010 passport weekend series on Jan. 16, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Passports are $40 and can be purchased at the SCMWA office, 7605-A Old Dominion Court, Aptos, or at any of the participating wineries. ‘Li’l Abner’

South Valley Civic Theatre is presenting “Li’l Abner” Jan. 22 at 8 p.m. and will have performances through February, including: Jan. 23, 29, 30 at 8 p.m. Jan 31 at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 5, 6, 12, 13 at 8 p.m. and on Feb. 7 at 2:30 p.m. The show is a broad spoof, but it is also a pointed satire taking on any number of topics ranging from an incompetent United States federal government to standards of masculinity. The show will be performed at the Morgan Hill Community Playhouse at 17090 Monterey Road.

Monterey Symphony presents ‘Sizzle from Iceland’

The Monterey Symphony will be performing the third concert in their 2009-10 season Jan. 23-25. The concert includes music by Rossini, Barber and Beethoven. West Side Theatre presents Lady Bianca

Lou and Peter Berryman concert

Musical humorists Lou and Peter Berryman will be hosting a concert at the Aromas Community Grange, on the corner of Rose Avenue and Bardue Street, in Aromas Jan. 29 at 8 p.m. The two began their musical partnership in high school in Wisconsin in the ’60s. They have performed on public radio’s “A Prairie Home Companion” and NPR’s Weekend Edition. They have made 12 recordings and three songbooks. The suggested donation for adults is $12 and $6 for children. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Money raised will benefit the Aromas Community Grange. The YMCA Health Seekers workshop on “Real Food, Quick, Inexpensive and Healthy” will be Feb. 2, at 7 p.m., at the YMCA office on Fifth Street in Hollister. Ritchie Valens tribute concert

A Tribute to Ritchie Valens concert will be held Feb. 6 at the Henry J. Mello Center for Performing Arts in Watsonville, 250 E. Beach St. Lobby doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the show to start at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature Ray Anthony as Valens and the Backyard Blues Band, featuring Valens’ brother Mario Ramirez. Native Daughters Centennial Celebration

The San Juan Bautista Parlor No. 179 Native Daughters of the Golden West will be hosting the open celebration of its Centennial and its official visit of Grand President Alice Forbes Feb. 20, at San Juan Oaks, 3825 Union Road, in Hollister. The social will start at 11:30 a.m., followed by a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. RSVPs are requested by Feb. 10. ‘Path of the Padres’

The “Path of the Padres” hikes will be held on some Fridays and most Saturdays and Sundays starting on Feb. 27 and will continue through April 18. The hikes are open to the public, ages 6 years and older by advance reservation only. School group hikes may be arranged during the week. School group reservations and general public reservations are now open. At least 10 people must be involved in the hike to be able to conduct a tour. The hike begins at the Los Banos Creek Reservoir boat launch ramp at 8 a.m. and returns to the ramp at about 3:30 p.m. To make a reservation, call (209)-826-1197 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be a reservation fee of $12 per person 12 years old, and $7 per child age 6-12. A family of 5 may reserve space for 2 adults and 3 children for $30. On the day of the hike visitors must pay the State Park day use parking fee of $10 per car upon entry.
