Jeanie Watson art show

Jeanie Watson will have her artwork on display June through June 27 at the Galeria Tonantzin, 115 Third St. in San Juan Bautista. She was on hand during the gallery walk June 13, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the artists’ reception. Watson’s work includes acrylic on canvas and watercolor paintings.

Pinnacles picnic

The Pinnacles Partnership will host its third annual picnic June 20 at RS Bar Guest Ranch. The event will include docent-led nature walks, birding expeditions, a barbecue from noon to 2 p.m., with a program from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., a star party at dusk and children’s activities all day. Overnight lodging is available. There is limited availability to visit the site where a pair of California condors are caring for a hatchling. Tours are limited to 30 people total, and depart at 9:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Cost for members is $25 for condor viewing, but the barbecue and other events are free. Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation will host its third annual Festival in the Park – Where wellness meets fun Saturday, June 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hellyer County Park in San Jose. Exhibits will include more than 100 booths with health and fitness information and products, a food court and Kaiser Permanente’s Teddy Bear clinic, as well as demonstrations of fitness activities. St. John fiesta

Old Mission San Juan Bautista will hold its annual fiesta Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the olive grove adjacent to the mission. In addition to the popular chicken barbecue, it includes continuous entertainment, game booths for children and various ethnic food and beverage booths. There is no charge to enter the grounds. The popular chicken barbecue is a joint effort with the San Juan Service Club. The $8-per-plate meal includes salad, beans and bread. Other food and beverage booths will be available. Proceeds benefit the mission’s maintenance and restoration. A second fundraising effort is the annual raffle for prizes of $2,000, $1,000, $500 and two for $250. Tickets are $1. The prizes are memorials donated by members of the Mission parish. The chairperson coordinating this year’s event is Mary Edge, a long-time resident and parish leader. The San Benito County Child Injury Prevention committee is hosting the 16th annual Kids at the Park June 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dunne Park on West Street. Movies in the Park

Nacho (Jack Black) grew up in an orphanage and now works as a cook there. But all his life he has dreamed of being a masked wrestler in the lucha libre tradition. The Hollister United Methodist Church will hold its annual all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast July 3, 4 and 5 from 8 a.m. to noon. Entry for adults is $9 and $6 for kids 12 an under. ‘The Art of Children’s Books’

The Monterey Museum of Art La Mirada presents “Over Rainbows and Down Rabbit Holes: The Art of Children’s Books” July 11 through September 13, 720 Via Mirada in Monterey.
