‘Beyond Therapy’
opens The Monterey Peninsula College Theatre Company presents “Beyond Therapy” May 6-16, at the Morgan Stock Stage at Monterey Peninsula College, 980 Fremont St. Shows are Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. The show is about two people, Bruce and Prudence, who are in therapy and who meet over dinner. ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’
The Paper Wing Theatre Company is showing Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland from April 30 to May 29. The show is a “dark, urban adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s classic story.” The theatre is located at 320 Hoffman Avenue at Lighthouse Ave., in Monterey. Tickets are $15 general admission. Opera San Jose will be showing “La rondine (The Swallow)” April 24 through May 9, at the California Theatre, 345 South First St. in downtown San Jose. The opera by Giacomo Puccini follows the beautiful mistress of a wealthy Parisian banker when she tries to recapture magic by running off with a young man who reminds her of a handsome stranger she met long ago. Performances are April 24, 29, May 1, 4 and 7 at 8 p.m. and April 25, May 2 and 9 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $51-91, including a city facility usage fee. Geology Field Day
Pinnacles Partnership is hosting a geology field day at Windhaven Ranch, in San Juan Bautista, May 8, from 9 a.m. to midnight. The event will include docent-led walking tours of the San Andreas Fault, telescopic exploration of the solar system, booths, displays, art, music and more. Benefit Concert
The San Benito High School Associated Student Body is holding a benefit concert for Haiti and the beneficiary of this year’s Benefit Ball, May 8, at 7 p.m. at the San Benito High School stadium. The event will feature professional recording artists, bands and dancers as well as a small fashion show. The doors will open at 6 p.m.
Benefit Car Wash
The San Benito High School Color Guard will be hosting a car wash at the Sunnyslope Medical Center on May 8. The Sunnyslope Medical Center is located on the corner of Sunnyslope Road and Memorial Drive. Funds raised will benefit the award winning color guard program. Cost is $10 per car.

Country Garden Tour
The Aromas Country Garden Tour is May 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a showcase of work done by landscape designers and gardeners. There will be several gardens and relevant sights to be seen at the event. There will also be local artists displaying their work in the majority of the gardens. Booklets with information on the locations are available at the Aromas Grange for $10. Santa Clara County Parks is hosting its Healthy Trails 2nd edition fitness program May 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place at Coyote Lake Harvey Bear Ranch County Park. Choirs perform together
The Peninsula Women’s Chorus and Golden Gate Men’s Chorus will perform a joint program at two locations in the Bay Area. Downtown walking tour
The San Benito County Historical Society is hosting a walking tour of downtown Hollister, May 15, at 9 a.m. The route is about 1-1/2 miles long, and the tour will begin at the Wapple House Museum, located at 498 Fifth St. Space is limited to 30 people. 8th annual Wine Passport
The 8th annual SBC Winegrower’s Association will host its Wine Passport May 15, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Passports can be purchased at the office, located at 1700 Airline Hwy. Every passport includes a wine tasting at six of SBC Winegrower’s Association’s local wineries and a commemorative wine glass. The passport also offers a discount entry to a special amphitheater concert Saturday evening at Peppertree Ranch/Guerra Family Vineyards. Tickets are available for $25 at participating wineries as well as Grillin’ and Chillin’, Ridgemark, She’s and Timber & Textiles. No one under 21 will be admitted to the Wine Passport. Arts Out Loud
San Benito High School students will be participating in “Arts Out Loud,” a celebration of student achievement in the arts, May 16, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the San Benito High School Auditorium. The annual event is the largest student art exhibit of its kind in San Benito. Original student artwork will be available for sale and raffle tickets will be available for $1, for a chance to win a drawing for teachers’ artwork to benefit the Arts programs.
Benefit barbecue
A benefit barbecue in honor of Jason “Cowboy J” Arballo will be held May 16, from noon to 6 p.m. at Paine’s Restaurant in Hollister. For $10, residents can get half a chicken, beans, salad and garlic bread. For $25, they can get a whole tri-tip and a loaf of garlic bread. Meals can be eaten in or taken out. Oriana Chorale’s ‘Trial by Jury’
The Oriana Chorale will start its 25th anniversary season with a production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic operetta “Trial by Jury,” May 21 and May 22, at 8 p.m. at the Hollister Methodist Church, at Monterey and Fifth streets.
