‘Bugsy Malone Jr.’

The South Valley Civic Theater will be presenting, “Bugsy Malone Jr.” on Nov, 27, 28, Dec.4, 11 and 12 at 8 p.m., and on Nov. 29, and Dec. 6 at 2:30 p.m. The play will be held at Morgan Hill Community Playhouse, 17090 Monterey Rd. Thanksgiving boat cruise

There will be two-hour guided tours around the Moss Landing Harbor on Nov. 27 at 9 a.m., and Nov. 28 and 29 at 9:15 a.m. Tickets are $32-24 and reservations are required. ‘La Pastorela’

El Teatro Campesino presents its biennial Christmas show, “La Pastorela” Nov. 27 through Dec. 20, at the Mission San Juan, 406 Second St., in San Juan. Pottery studio open house

Jane Rekedal will be hosting an open house at her pottery studio, at 1560 Cannon Road, in Aromas, Nov. 28 and 29, and Dec. 5 and 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The semi-annual open house will offer visitors a chance to see the working studio as well as purchase handmade pottery or sculpture. Lights On Celebration

The Lights On Celebration will be held in downtown Hollister Nov. 28, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There are pre-parade festivities that will begin at 5 p.m. and last until 5:30 p.m., including Merchant Open Houses, Oriana Chorale, costumed characters and the Barber Shop Quartet. There will also be post-parade events that will begin at 7 p.m. and last until 8:30 p.m. including photos with Santa, local music and dance troupes, Margurite Maze Band, Scarlet Regiment Band and the First Presbyterian Church Bell Ringers. Surfing Santa and Holiday Lights Train

Santa will sit in a lawn chair at Capitola Beach and will take wish list requests from kids. Santa’s reindeer will also attend. There will be open-air excursion cars that will travel through Santa Cruz. There will also be the option of the steam train to Bear Mountain with the view of the holiday trees. Mars Hill will be hosting art pieces by shell’s photography Nov. 30 through Dec. 30. Shell is a local artist who specializes in nature and wildlife photography. The opening reception will be at 6:30 p.m., with music by “All Night Train” after the reception.

Health seekers workshops

The YMCA will be offering health seekers workshops to share information with those who are seeking a healthy lifestyle and healthy community. The speakers for the “An Apple A Day…” event will be Paul Percival, who will talk about carbohydrates and Ralph Armstrong, who will discuss portion size. Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at the YMCA office on Fifth Street. Tree Lighting

The annual Holiday Tree Lighting is Dec. 4, at 4 p.m. in Devendorf Park on Ocean and Junipero avenues. The Carmel Fire Department will deliver Santa Claus at 4:30 p.m., and Mayor Sue McCloud will light the tree at 5:45 p.m rain or shine. There will performances by the Carmel Middle School Chorus, and refreshments will be provided by the Monterey Bay Area Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Carmel Chamber of Commerce. ‘Bella Notte’ Italian Dinner

The North Monterey County High School music program will be hosting an evening of Italian food, wine and music at the North County Parks & Recreation Community Center, 11261 Crane St., in Castroville, Dec. 4, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The event will feature dining, dancing and prize drawings. A silent auction and raffle are planned, as well as live music by Mike Marotta and his band, Dave Marzetti and opera singer Peter Tuff. The emcees for the night will be Mark and Jim of KION radio. Cost is $30 per person or $50 a couple in advance. At the door the cost is $35 per person or $60 a couple. All proceeds benefit the band programs at the high school, which includes marching band, orchestra, wind ensemble and jazz band.

Holiday in Lights Parade

The San Juan Bautista Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its Holiday in Lights Parade Dec. 5, starting at 5:30 p.m. This year’s theme is Candyland and entries for the parade will be accepted until Dec. 3, at 4 p.m. The parade entry fee is $15 and entries of floats, marching, horses, or walking will be accepted. Parade check-in is 4 p.m. All entries should have lights and playing holiday music from floats is encouraged. Historical Society meeting

The San Juan Bautista Historical Society will host its quarterly meeting Dec. 5, at 11 a.m at the Matxain Etxea Basque Restaurant, 206 Fourth St. The guest speaker will be Charles Sawyer, the curator of the Milliken Museum in Los Banos, who will talk about the connection between San Juan, Pacheco Pass, Los Banos and the central Valley, as well as the museum and Estolano Larios. Monterey symphony

The Monterey Symphony will be hosting an open rehearsal at Sherwood Hall, 940 N. Main Street, in Salinas, Dec. 5 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15. An opening performance will also be conducted Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $39 for premium seats, $20 for unreserved. $5 tickets are available for education groups of 10 or more. Annual Native American Christmas Market

The sixth annual Native American Christmas Market will be held Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Spreckles Memorial Building, Fifth and Llano Ave. Admission is $2, children 12 and under are free, as is parking. The Oriana Chorale has three Christmas concerts scheduled that will feature unique carols and selections from Handel’s Messiah. Alzheimer’s caregiver support group

Jovenes de Antano, the Health Projects Center, the Alzheimer’s Association and the San Benito County Behavioral Health department sponsor an Alzheimer’s caregiver support group on the second Thursday of every month. The next meeting will be Dec. 10, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Hollister Community Center, 300 West St., in Hollister. The meetings offer support from professional and other caregivers in a similar situation. It allows family or friends who are caring for a loved one with memory impairments to develop good coping skills and an understanding of the disease process. Trees of Life tree lighting

The Hospice Foundation will host its Tress of Life tree lighting ceremony in Hollister Dec. 11, at 5:30 p.m., at the Veterans Memorial Plaza, 649 San Benito St. The event will include a performance by Oriana Chorale. Hot chocolate, cider and other refreshments will be served. Money raised from the tree lighting sponsorships benefit end-of-life care and services, including Hospice in Monterey and San Benito Counties. Children’s Commemorative art will also be on sale. San Jose Wind Symphony

The San Jose Wind Symphony, under the direction of Edward D.
