Robrock retrospective continues
The Blak Sage Gallery will host ‘John Robrock Through the Ages:
a retrospective look and examination of life influences

through Oct. 28, 727 San Benito St., in Hollister. Robrock, who
has an MFA, teaches drawing and painting at San Benito High School.
The exhibit will feature 50 framed works of art arranged
chronologically, reflecting life phases, including some nude life
drawings. Other common themes in the work include cowboys,
portraits, Native Americans and landscapes. Robrock will also offer
demonstrations of portrait drawing techniques, Oct. 16 and 23, from
2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from

Flor Y Canto 2010 ‘Vinyl Verses’

Flor Y Canto 2010 “Vinyl Verses” is a fundraiser for “Classroom on the Bay” and community workshops for youth conducted by Indigenous Chaos. The event will be Oct. 15, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Oct. 16, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Centro Ollin, 405 Monterey St., Ste. G, in Hollister. Chili Cook-Off

The San Benito County Association of Realtors is hosting a chili cook-off Oct. 15, at the San Benito County Association or Realtors office parking lot, 330 Tres Pinos Road, Ste. C-6. Set up starts at 8:30 a.m., with judging from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Lunch is noon to 2 p.m. The entry fee per team before Oct. 8 is $25 and after is $35. Pantera Tribute band performs

Cowboys From Hell, a Pantera Tribute band, will perform at the Vault Restaurant, Oct. 15. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, $13 at the door. The event is for ages 21 and up.

‘Corridos! Tales of the Mexican Revolution’

Organic Harvest Day at ALBA

The Agriculture and Land-Based Training Association will host an Organic Harvest Day Oct. 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The community is invited to purchase a wide variety of fresh produce grown by beginning farmers participating in the ALBA training program. Organic products available at farm-direct prices include: strawberries, carrots, cilantro, green beans, beets, flowers, heirloom tomatoes, pumpkins and various squashes. This event is a great occasion for families to meet beginning farmers and learn about organic farming and sustainable agriculture. Children will be able to enjoy activities like pumpkin painting, hay rides and farm tours. Bicycles are welcome for families to spend the day exploring the farm. Re-usable bags are encouraged for taking home lots of healthful, fresh fruits and vegetables. Suggested donation for attendance is $5 per group. Northern California Renaissance Faire

The Northern California Renaissance Faire will be held at Casa de Fruta, off Hwy. 152, weekends through Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The theme this week is Oktoberfest. There are a variety of stages and arenas that will provide entertainment such as Punch and Judy Shows, jousting, sword fighting and more. Vendors will sell a variety of foods and merchandise. There will be a Celtic rock concert at 6 p.m. on Saturdays, free with the cost of faire admission. This week’s performance will be by Wicked Tinkers. The Hollister Free Wheelers are hosting a fundraiser drive.
