Carole Belliveau show on display

The Blak Sage Gallery of Fine Art, 727 San Benito St., will host Carole Belliveau as the featured artist through Sept. 29. Her show “Our Piece of Heaven” features scenes of San Benito and Monterey County. Aquatint etchings on display at Mission Gallery

Mission Gallery will display aquatint etchings by Stephen McMillan through Oct. 2, 106 Third St. in San Juan Bautista. The etchings are original prints pulled from copper plates that have been drawn freehand and etched with acid. Ansel Adams: Portrait of America

Ansel Adams: Portrait of America is on display at the Monterey Museum of Art-La Mirada located at 720 Via Mirada in Monterey through October. The exhibition is the first world-tour stop for the largest collection of iconic photographs to be seen in one place. Museum hours are Wednesdays-Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $5 general admission. E-Waste Drive for the AAA

The Acclerated Achievement Academy is hosting a free E-waste drop off Sept. 11, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Calaveras School parking lot, 1151 Buena Vista Road. The Si, Se Puede! ‘Special Friends’ benefit concert

The “Special Friends” benefit concert will be Sept. 16, from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Golden State Theater, in Monterey. The concert will benefit the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, which will help defray the costs of Joshua Mompean’s recent double lung transplant at Stanford Hospital due to cystic fibrosis. Phil Keaggy, a San Benito resident, will perform at the concert. Keaggy has released 50 albums, been awarded seven dove awards and has been inducted into the Gospel Hall of Fame. The YMCA of San Benito County will hold its 12th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at San Juan Oaks, Sept. 17, with a dinner and dance to follow. The fee to enter is $130 a per person and includes green fees, cat, range balls, lunch, dinner and awards. There is a $20 fun package that includes Mulligan, prizes, on course games and refreshments. Dinner only is $35 a person. Registration for the tournament begins at 11 a.m., with a shotgun start at noon. Civil War Days

The National Civil War Association and the San Benito County Historical Society is hosting Civil War Days Sept. 18 and 19, at the San Benito County Historical Park, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Coastal Trail Walk

Suicide Prevention of the Central Coast is seeking walkers and volunteers for its fourth annual Coastal Trail Walk, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. The event is a commemoration of World Suicide Prevention Day and also promotes announce of the organization, which handles a 24-hour, multilingual Suicide and Crisis Hotline; educational presentations and trainings; support for at-risk adults and those grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide. The Coastal Trail Walk takes place at the scenic Window on the Bay Park, in Monterey, across Del Monte Avenue, from Lake El Estero. The walk goes toward Pacific Grove and back. Movies in the Park

The Plaza History Association presents Movies in the Park. The last screening is “Vertigo” on Sept. 24. The Showtime will be sunset. The event will be held at San Juan Bautista State Historic Park Plaza Lawn located at 19 Franklin St. Refreshments and snacks will be available at the Park stable. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. The will be a blanket area towards the front with a low back chair seating area toward the rear of the lawn. It is encouraged to dress warmly. Great Sand Castle Contest

The 49th annual Great Sand Castle Contest will be held at Carmel Beach, between 10th and 12th, Oct. 3. The event is cosponsored by the American Institute of Architects- Monterey Bay Chapter and the city of Carmel-by-the-sea. The theme will be announced two weeks before the event. Registration takes place on the beach before the event, and builders can begin work on their castles at 8 a.m. Judging will take place from noon to 2 p.m.

The YMCA of San Benito County will host the Harlem Starz basketball team for a game against one of the Hollister city recreation department’s adult basketball league teams Oct. 8,, at 6:30 p.m. at Marguerite Maze Middle School. The YMCA of San Benito County will host a 10th annual benefit concert by Pacific Brass, a British-style brass band Nov. 7, at 2 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, 2066 San Benito St., in Hollister.
