The San Benito County Council of Governments is holding a public workshop to discuss the bikeway and pedestrian plan while using it to help update the master plan.

The master plan will identify specific ways to improve streets and paths to provide safe and comfortable riding and walking experiences, according to a COG press release.

The meeting will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Hollister Community Center, 300 West St.

According to the COG press release, the workshop will inform residents of the recommendations for improving bicycling and pedestrian access in their neighborhoods, workplaces, local schools and wherever else residents and their families walk and bike in the county. The changes in the master plan are results from the “walkability”/”bikeability” audit that was given to county residents in November.

A presentation also will be given by Alta Planning + Design, the consultant hired to work on the bikeway and pedestrian plan update. Their presentation will cover recommendations for future bike and pedestrian facilities.

If you are unable to attend and would like to hear more information about the presentation, contact Veronica Lezama with COG at 637-766 or at [email protected]. You also can go to the Web site for more information at www.sanbenitocog.org.
