Shame on you Mayor Bruscia for trying to build your political
career on the backs and lives of loyal and dedicated employees of
the City of Hollister. You want to put Hollister on the map to
prove to other cities that the budget can be balanced, just cut
jobs and deal with the results later when you won’t be around
because you will not be re-elected!

“To the responder to Citizens Voice on Jan. 19: Levy no more taxes on the people of California. I agree with your stance. I have never, nor will I ever vote for a proposition or bond measure that will cost me money. Any voter in any county in the state of California will do the same.
Why give government more to mismanage? Government must quit asking for more handouts from taxpayers and demonstrate their willingness to clean up the mess they’ve created with the resources they currently have and will receive from revenue sources already in place.
Being aged and disabled with a monthly income of $653, I have no pennies left for taxes, let alone the proposed increase in city utilities coming.”
“Although I sympathize with the employees who will be suffering because of the upcoming layoffs, I do believe this budget crunch should be looked at as an opportunity.
Why does the city and county need separate chief administrative officers, finance departments, planning departments, public works, police departments, engineering departments and fire departments?
Our elected officers need to quit bickering and put themselves together to provide one stable, concentrated government for its citizens.”
“Talking about the city manager trying to lay off all the top echelon – if he had any kind of any management experience at all, he would know that you always start with the bottom of the totem pole. You put a hiring freeze on there, then you lay off your people who came in last, then you go up to the middle. You never take your top-echelon people who have all the knowledge of things that have already been done and where each project is being done and what type of project is being done. How do they know where they’re going to find the equipment and everything like that? If a water line ever breaks, you don’t go to somebody who’s been there for two weeks and ask them how to fix it. You go to the top echelon and he brings all his people in.
Another thing, he’s talking about laying off the fire chief that has so many years of experience and he brought so much to our great community. Then he wants him to leave with people like Barbara Mulholland. What ever happened to all the money that was lent out to the RDA? Why don’t they find out where all that money went to build Nash and also collect the money from the cannery and in our doors?
And also, Tony Bruscia was saying that he wanted people to spend money here in town. Look up his phone number. It does not sound like Hollister.
And also, where’s our city manager from? He’s from Oregon. He’s getting all his money from Oregon. He’s taking all his money to Oregon. He’s not paying his taxes over there. What’s going on with that? Why do we have to give him a car and house to live here. The city pays for it. Let him pay for his own stuff if he’s making that kind of money. We don’t need people like him around here. Let’s get rid of him and Tony Bruscia and Brian Conroy and have a recall. Let’s call somebody in to take care of all these problems. I’d call the grand jury in and have them investigate thoroughly where all this money’s going.”
