Here is an effective way to reduce county wasteful spending and
maybe save jobs. Let’s start by stopping Mr. Sarsfield, via the
county, paying Mr. Scattini thousands of dollars each month, which
goes directly into his pocket. How about having the Sheriff take
over process serving like the rest of California and return the
money to law enforcement instead of lining one man’s bank
account.
This part is important and needs to be included: Here is how
Marshal’s office currently operates. The county pays for deputy
Marshal’s to serve papers for the DA, then the county pays Mr.
Scattini directly for the same service about 3 to 4K a month for
the same DA process serving. The county then pays all of Mr.
Scattini’s operating costs including office, phone, insurance,
PG
&
amp;E, staff, gas, etc. The Board of Supervisors needs to take
action and end this stupidity now.

“WAKE-UP OUT THERE: The rescinded car tax was ONLY a partial revenue stopgap. The car tax alone would not solve the state’s financial woes. Buckle down and start trimming the fat. Only God knows how much waste occurs in city, county and state budgets.
I was recently downsized and had to adjust to 60 percent less income. It can be done only if politicians stop spending. Do our elected officials have a personal balanced checkbook? They have to learn not to spend more than they take in! Layoffs in city, county and state are long overdue.”
“Interesting reading on the new Fire Station moving along. When is the City Council going to begin to work cohesively? Mayor Bruscia states (and I quote), ‘We’re kind of sticking our necks out doing this fire station, but we know that we need it.’
So you are admitting that there is lack of public safety in the City of Hollister, but you are still considering cutting the police and fire protection.
In the same article, Councilman Scattini stated that ‘We’re not going to be hiring anybody.’
Councilman Scattini, are you in charge of the entire council? How can you make such a statement with such certainty?
Someone needs to do the math for the City Council:
Firefighters: 24.
Population in city: 36,000.
Lawsuit to City of Hollister for lack of public safety: PRICELESS.”
