The capture of Saddam Hussein by American forces is a great
victory. It is a testament to the professionalism and dedication of
our troops. This is their victory! Let’s celebrate it.
I’m sure that those who wish that Saddam was still in power will
put as much of a negative edge on this as they can. They will try
their best to diminish this marvelous achievement. I can just see
Molly Ivins sitting at her ‘spinning wheel’ on the left side of the
room trying to put as much vitriol into her next column as she can.
NBC news already was railing about the fact that the weapons of
mass destruction have not been discovered when we have just
captured one of the biggest ‘weapons of mass destruction.’ The
politicians didn’t wait to mouth their ‘yes, buts.’ What is wrong
with these people? Why do they want us to fail?
No one expects this to end the war. Much heavy lifting is yet to
be done. Why don’t we just enjoy the moment and savor the victory
that was handed to us by our sons and daughters!

“Did you really expect Sarsfield to tell you the truth about shutting down Robbie’s office? He once again stepped over ‘the none of his business’ line and without a moral compass can’t find his way back. While you were talking to him, why didn’t you ask him about the Columbian drug lords coming to overthrow San Benito County’s justice system? Now that would have been interesting.

The only rattling I hear is coming from the marbles loose in his head and the bones of his cronies, rattling in his political I.O.U. closet. Recall doesn’t sound so far-fetched anymore, now does it?”

“Why doesn’t Anthony Freitas want to reveal his campaign committee? Could it be because two of his primary supporters were instrumental in the beginning of the City of Hollister’s uncontrolled growth? When they were on the City Council, they were known as the Fathers of the Growth Movement. To the developers, they were known as Santa Claus.

Hopefully the county will not repeat the same mistakes as the city. But if we continue to elect representatives with advisors who have already proven how they govern, can we expect a different outcome?”

“After learning of the tragic auto accident that claimed two innocent young lives, two issues come to mind:

1. Wearing a seat belt doesn’t guarantee a life will be saved.

2. Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and will take you myself, that where I am you may be also.

God doesn’t put an age limit on when He will come for us or how He will choose to take us – whether it be age, illness, accident, etc. My sincere condolences to the families.”

“Taxpayer to Mr. Shaddox: Eliminate the tree maintenance crew of two. Sell the new trucks, cherry picker and wood chipper. This will put about $800,000 back in the budget for necessary services.

By the way, you best revise the city utility bill to eliminate street sweeper services for taxpayers not receiving the benefit.”
