The Chronicle article Monday about our run-amok DA had some
interesting quotes from Mayor Brian Conroy
– friend, supporter and political crony of Sarsfield’s. So you
don’t forget, just days after taking office Sarsfield reduced
Conroy’s DUI.
John then claimed that the DOJ handled the case in court. How’s
that for

good ole boy

politics? The strange thing is not one person from the media
even questioned this obvious act of political cronyism.
Someone needs to ask Conroy’s attorney about contacts with John
before he took office and any deals discussed.
Ethical? I don’t think so.

“It’s not just Pop Warner that utilizes minimum play. It’s also Little League. My son for two seasons was subjected to minimum play; that’s one at bat and two defensive innings. When we proceeded with the third season; same thing. I had already made the call that if the third season proceeded like the previous two, then we would withdraw early in the season. It was not as easy a decision for me as it was for my son. He simply said that it was not any fun and there was too much required practice to sit on the bench every game. It was driving him crazy that he couldn’t play. When I finally got it through my head that my son was not having any fun the decision for him to withdraw was clear. This is not a quality that I promote, but it seemed the healthy decision considering the rule of minimum play and the League’s resistance to change it.

I actually needed my son to make that call for me, so remember if the child is not having fun and you are not able to change the rules then don’t force them to play. Believe me when I say that they will feel better about themselves when they are not subjected to feeling inferior every weekend. So until you are able to make it right, pull them out.”

“It’s no secret the welfare department has been in need of an overhaul. First, give the investigator her pink slip if she won’t do her job. I don’t know of too many people who will refuse to do their job and keep it; not in private industry, only in government is this allowed.”

“I used to volunteer with the Red Cross and don’t anymore. Let me tell you why; because the new director treats people like dirt. It used to be that we were appreciated as volunteers. The people that were there before understood volunteers and were grateful for the time and effort we devoted to the chapter. The new director and the board that supports her doesn’t care about the volunteers, the community or the Red Cross.”
