A few months ago, Bruce Kiefert, in a letter to the editor,
warned us about District Attorney John Sarsfield and the forming of
a criminal grand jury
– and here we are. Sarsfield, who still hasn’t shown up in court
in 13 months, is now trying to get through the back door of our
local injustice system. Still hiding from the local defense
attorneys, he will be able to blame his hand-picked criminal grand
jury for questionable indictments and case
s that go bad. This will also help him hide his own personal
inadequacies as a criminal prosecutor.

I personally have a problem with wasting our hard-earned tax dollars on two grand juries when only one is needed, but that’s not the real problem.
This is the same man who has mislead the public – caught on tape (March 2003) then caught changing his story, numerous times, about the non-existent 12 boxes of un-filed cases. He has also been caught making questionable deals with his political cronies – three that we know about. Wait until you see the deal he strikes with his pal and campaign supporter, Attorney Bud Landreth, for his murdering scumbag client in the Santos homicide case.
We can’t forget the infamous Sara M. Jones – we don’t know what the hell he’s doing there.
QUESTION: I wonder if he will have the criminal grand jury investigate and indict Sara?
Last, but not least, remember Sarsfield telling the Board of Supervisors that the Mafia and Columbian drug lords were coming to Hollister to run him and Sheriff Sluggo out of office? PARANOID?
Now, after all of that we are supposed to trust him to pick and run a criminal grand jury? I don’t think so. In my opinion, seating this grand jury would truly be criminal.”
“Margaret Cheney made a comment in an interview with the newspaper where she ‘wouldn’t stoop that low’ to go out and carry a sign on a street corner is an insult! She is the reason we need to be out on the street corner to stop her and her cohorts from ruining the future of San Benito County!
Ms. Cheney and her ‘group’ have the full backing and financial support of the largest most environmental wacko groups in the nation. (They have never denied this.) Their money and lawyers are on the attack against the small county of San Benito and its farming heritage. They are subtly doing this across the nation. It makes it very difficult to defend the truth. These local farmers and ranchers are having to dig deep in their pockets to defend the truth. They need your help so you too can enjoy what has been and hopefully will continue to be the beauty of San Benito County.
So far the No on Measure G people have won three times in court against this group. Isn’t that enough to convince you that they are right? Now it is time for the rest of the people to stand up for what is right. You live here, too, and enjoy this life.
Every Thursday until the March 2 election, at 4 to 6 p.m. is the people’s time to be heard and seen at the corner of Fourth and San Benito streets. It is a difficult time for those that work. We know it is difficult for moms at home with their children at the dinner hour. We know, but just think and remember when it gets to 4 p.m. on Thursdays how only two hours for the future of San Benito County is not too much to ask! Bring your children so you can teach them what the American way is all about.
I, too, felt intimidated the first time I went, but I knew I had to stand up for my principals and the truth. For all you volunteers that work at the hospital, Community Pantry, library, schools, after hours programs for kids and the list goes on, take two hours from your life and stand on the corner of Fourth and San Benito and let the community know how they need to vote on March 2 to stop the destruction of San Benito County!”
