This is outrageous what the County Board of Supervisors are
doing! When was the lawyer Nancy Miller hired by the Board of
Supervisors, and why, when this did not come before them on the
Oct. 14 meeting? Nancy Miller the ‘new’ hired lawyer made a blatant
statement in the Free Lance, ‘In addition we don’t allow lawyers on
behalf of clients to dictate the Board of Supervisor’s agenda.’
“This is outrageous what the County Board of Supervisors are doing! When was the lawyer Nancy Miller hired by the Board of Supervisors, and why, when this did not come before them on the Oct. 14 meeting? Nancy Miller the ‘new’ hired lawyer made a blatant statement in the Free Lance, ‘In addition we don’t allow lawyers on behalf of clients to dictate the Board of Supervisor’s agenda.’

Mr. Michael Pekin did nothing of the kind, according to the newspaper. As a lawyer representing a client, he petitioned the Board with a request to be placed on the agenda so he could be heard. This is not dictating! He is following normal procedures as any citizen can. This all sounds to me like Ms. Miller is trying to stop the messenger to keep the public from knowing the allegations!

Upon reviewing the agenda of the last meeting of the Supervisors on Oct. 14, there was nothing to indicate discussion or approval of hiring an out-of-town lawyer to represent them. Was there a special session ordered to vote on this? If so, how did each Supervisor vote? Using taxpayer money to hire outside lawyers to defend the actions of the Board must mean that there is a lot to be concerned about or they don’t feel county counsel is adequate. Why not just use county counsel? They are already being paid by the taxpayer.

Now, let me interject another thought in a different direction – Bill Clinton was not able to use taxpayer money to defend his actions during impeachment and he was an elected official. How can members of the Board of Supervisors use taxpayer money when the allegations are directed at one or possibly more of the Board members? If the President couldn’t do it, how can the Board? If there was no special session of the Board, was the decision made by one Supervisor and how much is the contract to hire her? Can one member of the Board spend untold amounts of taxpayer money without a public hearing?

To sum up my argument, should any Supervisor be allowed to use any type of legal representation paid by the taxpayer to defend them against personal lawsuits?”

“Boss Hog, a supporter of managed slow-growth where? Since boss is also a member of the county annexation commission, no problem rezoning property from Prime Rural Ag to Rural Residential. Managed slow-growth? Don’t think so! Boss and his cronies purchased Prime Rural Ag land, had it annexed to the city, then rezoned to Commercial and Residential. Managed slow-growth? I have to tell ya, this isn’t my idea of a supporter of managed slow-growth. Boss thinks we’re stupid.”

“This is regarding Supervisor Scagliotti. People, you have got to uncover your eyes. This man is not a slow-growth advocate, he is a developer and he is setting himself and some of his so-called friends up to make a whole lot of money. Another thing about Supervisor Boss Hog, he is the one who brought these large developers into town and has seen how much money is being made. Now he wants it all to himself. You all need to look at where all the land he and his partners own lay on this Measure G. You are right about one thing, this county has to wake up. Some of his partners on the Board need to go with him. He has been a farmer all his life, how do you think he got voted in office anyway?”
