Teachers, How Do You Do It!?
In the lower grades you have twenty or so youngsters. While in
grade four through high school it’s often 32 or more students! I’m
amazed at how much time and energy my sons take, and there are only
two of them! Teachers, enjoy your summer. Heaven knows you deserve
it! Heck, you need it! August 25th is just around the
corner…thank goodness!

“You guys are dumb.

I want to see if the Free Lance would print this.”

“Bikers, Get rid of them!”

“I’m very much in favor of the rally staying in Hollister on the July 4th weekend. The bikers have not been a major problem, and it’s a financial benefit to our area. The event historically belongs in Hollister. It’s too bad Bolado Park and private areas surrounding it can’t be used for parking, camping, racing and hill climbing for 2-3 days. That’s a political hot potato unfortunately, and opposed by a few Nimby’s.

Large events do cause traffic problems…the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, car and bike races at Laguna Seca, the AT&T Pro-Am and other similar events create traffic and other issues, but we don’t hear talk about shutting them down or moving them to Timbuckto! If you know what you are doing there are ways to bypass the rally traffic without a lengthy delay.

We are one of the families that left town this year to avoid noise and other distractions, like illegal fireworks – NOT from the rally goers, but from our obnoxious, rude neighbors! Last year they were just too much to put up with again, so we left town due to the loud noise from music, voices, and fireworks that go on late into the night and start back up at 6-7 AM. Too bad we can’t enjoy our own backyard.

I think a copy of your Opinion letter on rowdies with illegal fireworks is good copy for them…maybe I’ll drop one off on their doorstep.”

“They’re loud. They’re obnoxious and most of the state has banned them. Just take a look at our hillsides. Let’s keep our fireworks burning.”

“I am wondering what that god-awful racket was coming out of the San Benito cannery all night. I had to close my window because of the noise. They finally shut it off around dawn. If I left my stereo on loud all night the police would come and tell me to turn it down or throw me in jail. But a factory can have something roaring all night and nobody says anything? I have no doubt it kept some kids and parents up all night. It’s ridiculous that they can get away with such outrageous noise pollution and keep hard-working people awake!”
